Thyroid and Parathyroid

Thyroid Nodules
The thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped gland in your lower neck that helps regulate your metabolism. A thyroid nodule is any type of growth within the gland. The vast majority are benign, but all nodules require evaluation.

In-Office Ultrasound
Our state-of-the-art office-based ultrasound allows us to evaluate thyroid nodules that are too small to detect by physical examination. It can be done during your office visit, without exposing you to any radiation.

Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy of Thyroid Nodules
At the Ear, Nose, and Throat Center, we use an advanced process called fine needle aspiration (FNA) to determine whether a nodule is benign or malignant (cancerous). This simple procedure is done in our office during your initial visit.

Parathyroid Adenoma (Hyperparathyroidism)
Parathyroid glands are tiny glands in the neck that help regulate calcium levels. An overactive parathyroid nodule, called a parathyroid adenoma, can elevate blood calcium levels and result in complications such as kidney stones, osteoporosis, fatigue, and abdominal pain. Most cases of hyperthyroidism can be cured with parathyroid surgery.

Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery
Our specialists are experienced and perform a high volume of thyroid and parathyroid surgeries. Many patients are able to go home the same day of the surgery.
