You Need Hearing Aids – Here’s What to do Next – Part 1

By: Kelly Warf, Au.D.

Hearing loss develops gradually over time, thus its impact may not feel apparent at all times. However, untreated hearing loss is far more noticeable than hearing aids. If you miss a punch line to a joke, or respond inappropriately in conversation, people may have concerns about your mental acuity, your attention span or your ability to communicate effectively.

The next step is to discuss your hearing health plan with your Audiologist in a Hearing Needs Assessment appointment. At Sound Hearing Solutions, this complimentary consultation will review your lifestyle, health history, goals, and your financial considerations when hearing aids are recommended.

How to Prepare for a Hearing Needs Assessment Appointment:

  • Write down any questions you have so you don’t forget to ask your Audiologist
  • You are free to bring a companion; communication is a two-way street so the input of a regular communication partner can be valuable
  • Your Audiologist will consider the best option for you based on your hearing loss, ear anatomy, communication difficulties, lifestyle, and financial consideration; this may be different than what your friend of family member has

Finding the right health provider is important. When is comes to selecting the right hearing aid and hearing health path, the Audiologists at Sound Hearing Solutions are an independent practice. We are not a franchise or obligated to work with one hearing aid manufacturer.
